Third Trimester: Weeks 35 and 36

I've finally reached full term, which means that baby boy can come any day now! But at 37 weeks, my little guy doesn't seem to have any interest in making his grand entrance. I have about 2 weeks left until my due date so we'll see if he chooses to be early, on time or late... of course I'm rooting for early or on time! The past 2 weeks have been rough- lots of pain in different places.

* Braxton Hicks... still not intense enough to cause effacement

* frequent urination... this is typically coupled with the Braxton Hicks contractions

* cervical pain... yes, this is still happening (that wonderful pulled muscle feeling)

* inner upper thigh nerve pain/cramps... these have become more intense, at times making it impossible to move

* acid reflux

* sharp shooting pains in lower abdomen/cervix... again, it's due to his head- he moves his head and it causes MAJOR pain

* lower back pain

* swollen fingers

* sleepiness

I also started drinking a third trimester tea and began taking 1 evening primrose oil capsule (1000mg) per night.  Below are my pics from weeks 35 and 36 (and yes, I'm wearing a onesie in the second pic! lol). My next update will be the week of my due date! Do you think I'll make it? Let me know! =)

What's In Baby's Hospital Bag

You've seen what's in my bag that I'm taking to the hospital... but what about baby?

- wipes (I'm using natural brands only)
- onesies (1 long sleeve & 1 short sleeve)
- swaddling blanket
- burp cloth
- pacifier
- diapers (I only want to use natural diapers)
- multipurpose ointment
- cotton sleeper (not pictured... it's a surprise!)
- cotton hat (also not pictured)
- blanket (not pictured either... I forgot lol)

There is also a pram and winter hat but it has been unseasonably warm so I'm not sure if those will be necessary... guess it all depends on if the weather has changed when baby boy finally decides to enter the world. So, I guess I'm ready! The car seat is also in the car just waiting to be occupied... =)

What's In My Hospital Bag

With just about 3 weeks to go until my due date, I am officially on baby watch! And since I am not in control of when baby makes his arrival, I need to be ready to go at all times. So what did I pack?

- a comfy bathrobe
- lactation cookies (for snacking on after baby is born)
- underwear
- overnight pads
- slipper socks
- yoga pants
- lavender stones jar (for relaxation)
- toiletries (face wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, body wash)
- washcloths
- flip flops (not pictured)
- towel (not pictured)

Other items that I will be taking with me are my phone and charger (of course) and either my laptop or iPad (from my understanding, wifi is free so I can use that for entertainment if needed). And I also have an outfit to wear home. I hope I covered all of the basics! If I forgot anything, please feel free to comment. =)

Third Trimester: Weeks 33 and 34

Oops! Let's just go ahead and blame pregnancy brain for this late post. I am now 35 weeks (and 4 days lol) and am just as exhausted as I was in the first trimester! And my focus has been solely on making sure I have everything I need for the arrival of my little guy... other than that, I am running on fumes thanks to not getting good sleep. Anyway, I have all I need for baby... just missing the baby lol. And he is due in about 4 weeks! Okay... symptoms (a bit graphic but hey, it's a pregnancy blog):

* acid reflux

* sore boobs

* cervical pain... this feels like a pulled muscle... just in the cervix

* inner thigh nerve pain... so he finally moved off of my sciatic nerve and discovered a new nerve in an awkward place. it hurts and feels weird at the same time.

* Braxton Hicks... these have become a bit more intense. they aren't painful but they do stop me in my tracks and prevent me from standing up straight. and they usually trigger the symptom below...

* frequent urination

* sharp shooting pains towards cervix... it feels like he is moving down when I get this type of pain and it literally makes me say "ouch!"

Kind of an intense list of symptoms so I will be glad when he arrives! Here are my pics from the last 2 weeks:

Third Trimester: Weeks 31 and 32

*insert sleepy face here* I am soooo TIRED! This is week 33 for me and I am just about ready to meet my little guy. I told him that he needs to stay put until at least the week of Christmas and then he can come on out... let's just hope he listens! Okay... my last 2 weeks went as follows:

* L & D Triage... I spent the first day of week 31 in the hospital because I woke up with random bleeding and according to the monitor, I was having contractions! Thank God I wasn't dilated. They gave me IV fluids and told me to stay hydrated. I stayed home to rest for the next 2 days to make sure I was definitely okay.

* heartburn/indigestion/acid reflux... it has nothing to do with what I eat- I deal with these symptoms all of the time!

* lower back pain... having an anterior placenta doesn't help this issue at all!

* Braxton Hicks

* tailbone pain

* pressure/pain below the waist... baby boy is head down and I feel it!

* pinkish discharge... with his head putting pressure on my cervix and the many blood vessels below, this is normal.

So that sums up my last 2 weeks... quite the adventure but I know that means I'm getting closer! Check out my pics from weeks 31 and 32... just ignore my hair in the first pic lol.

Third Trimester: Weeks 29 and 30

I know... I'm late with this post... my apologies- I started off this week in the hospital but baby boy and I are okay. It was a scary experience simply because the fetal monitor was picking up on contractions that I didn't even know I was having but luckily, they hadn't caused me to dilate. I'm only 31 weeks along and as much as I am ready to meet my son, I DEFINITELY didn't want him to be born right now. And on top of that, I caught [another] cold over the weekend. Ugh... it really has been a rough week for me but I'm hanging in there. Ok- my symptoms for the last 2 weeks...

* sciatica... this was by far the WORST symptom for me during week 29. I've dealt with sciatica before I got pregnant and have had a few issues with it since being pregnant but this time, it stuck around for the majority of week 29. I was literally on the verge of tears because of the amount of pain I was in! I sure hope giving birth isn't more painful than that... sheesh!

* shortness of breath... asthma + a big baby means difficulty breathing! I am grateful for the few times a day that I can actually take a deep breath.

* tailbone pain... again, I'm going to chalk this up to baby boy's guesstimated weight...
Lord help me!

* heartburn/indigestion

* Braxton Hicks

At my 30 week appointment, I learned that I passed my glucose test (whoo hoo!) and have gained 20 lbs so far. There are just 8 weeks left until my due date... =)

Second/Third Trimester: Weeks 27 and 28

Hello, third trimester!!!! I'm sooooo excited to be able to say that! I finally purchased a maternity clothing item last weekend lol. But now that the weather is starting to [finally] become cooler, I can wear my [non-maternity] tunics/oversized sweaters and sweater dresses that I already have. I have a feeling that I will have to buy a few more items though and soon... baby boy won't allow me to fit some of my tunics much longer!

Here is what I experienced during the last 2 weeks...

* shortness of breath... walking on flat surfaces, walking up stairs, taking a shower and sometimes even just talking can cause me to be short of breath. I guess I underestimated my baby boy's size... that is, until I got a few kicks under the ribs. Sheesh!

* Braxton Hicks contractions... this was definitely the most shocking symptom for me. At first, I wasn't sure of what exactly was going on- I would just notice that my belly would be hard as a rock at the most random times. But indeed, it is my body preparing itself for labor... so crazy to think that means I'm almost at the end!

* 28 week checkup... this marked my last monthly doctor visit. I have now entered the phase in pregnancy where I go to the doctor every 2 weeks. I had my glucose test at this appointment and passed (I'm assuming I did since I didn't get a phone call). I weighed in at 140 (yes, I hear all the time that I don't look like it), which means I have gained 18lbs since the start of my pregnancy. I seem to be gaining a pound a week, which is great.

* scent aversions... yes, this annoying symptom has returned! Just last week? I couldn't stand the smell of Goldfish crackers and crayons... strange, I know.

* sciatica... this issue just won't go away! It really has become a major problem and interferes with my normal daily routine- no fun.

My pics from weeks 27 and 28 (I haven't changed, in my opinion)...

Second Trimester: Weeks 25 and 26

Time has really been flying! At 27 weeks, I've now reached the last week of the second trimester. Let's take a look back on my symptoms from weeks 25 and 26:

* dizziness... I had a couple of major dizzy spells during week 25 but thankfully, they only lasted a few minutes

* round ligament pain

* frequent urination... so, I guess baby boy has reached the weight where he is pressing on my bladder and making my potty runs seem urgent (even though they turn out not to be)

* sore boobs... yep, this issue has made a comeback but it's all for a great cause!

* heartburn/indigestion

* swelling... my poor feet and ankles were very swollen and sore during week 26

* sciatica... this was a problem for me even before I was pregnant and it popped back up at week 26 (it only happens on my right side)

And here are my pics from the last 2 weeks:

Second Trimester: Weeks 23 and 24

So I FINALLY hit the 6 month mark... just 16 weeks left to go! Well, actually only 15 weeks left (since I am now 25 weeks along). I have gained 14 lbs so far. And I have yet to purchase any maternity clothes. Yes, I'm saying that I can still fit into my regular clothes... but not all of them. My pants haven't buttoned for a long time so dresses and leggings are my best friends. Here are my symptoms for the past 2 weeks:

* sensitive gums... brushing and flossing actually kind of hurt (but of course I continued to do them)

* lower back pain... at this point, baby boy is over a pound and I'm starting to feel it lol

* leg cramps... this only happens when I go to stand up from a laying down position

* lots of movement

* sore boobs... random pains- nothing serious

* itchiness... as skin stretches and grows, it itches- I will spare you the details lol

During week 24, I became really obsessed with string cheese... not sure why, but it just did something for me lol. That about sums it up. Below are a couple of belly pics. Enjoy!

Second Trimester: Weeks 21 and 22

Just 17 weeks to go... 115 days left (maybe less) until I meet my little guy! So here's a list of my symptoms for the past couple of weeks...

* headache

* heartburn/indigestion... looking forward to seeing this head full of curls that my son will be born with! lol

* lower backache

* hip pain

* swollen feet... this has been a weird and new symptom for me. My feet have mostly been swollen on the soles- it makes me feel like I'm walking on cushions lol. But there have been days when my shoes were just too tight to put on or even keep on... ouch!

* sore boobs

* crazy dreams... from being robbed at butter knife point to giving birth to my fully clothed son (he was wearing a sleeper and sunglasses) and my daddy delivered him, my dreams have been all over the place!

* leg cramps... it's been a while since I had this symptom but unfortunately it has returned. I only get the cramps in my left calf when I go to stand up from a laying down position.

Baby boy has still been moving around a lot; everyday I look forward to his little kicks and pokes and even his somersaults (yes, I can feel when he completely flips- it actually makes me a little nauseous). I haven't yet figured out his schedule of movement, but I think that will come in the next few weeks.

August 2015 Mommy-To-Be Favorites

I can't believe that it's September already! I know I missed July and there was a favorites post created but internet issues prevented me from posting in a decent amount of time (I like to post my favorites no later than the 10th of the following month). But I'm here with my August favorites!

Tums Smoothies... in the wonderful world of pregnancy, you encounter heartburn/indigestion and lucky me, I've gotten it everyday starting the 18th week. So Tums became my best friend. And these new Smoothies flavors are quite good!

Shea Terra Organics Extreme Body Creme... I am obsessed with anything that smells like almond, so I chose the almond milk scent. It literally is the best moisturizer for my changing skin. I use it on my tummy daily to stop the itching and just to connect with my son through rubbing my belly. This doesn't have a strong almond scent but I still love it.

Quaker Apples & Cranberries Oatmeal... this isn't a new food item for me but it has been one that I've been eating quite a bit this month (like everyday). Sometimes I have to grab something quick but I also want it to be filling, and this has been my saving grace when baby literally gives me 5 min or less to get food.

Eggo Homestyle Waffles... definitely a craving of mine this month. I always had to have a box of these in the house for snacking purposes. What? You don't consider waffles a snack food? =)

So there you have it. I'm already working on my September favorites, which tells you how excited I am already for that post. See you next week for my pregnancy symptoms update.

Baby Buys: September

During September, I had the opportunity to go to the Carter's store on Labor Day- everything was 50% off! It wasn't easy to maintain control, but surprisingly I only purchased 2 outfits.

I was also gifted the items below to make sure my little guy is prepped for the winter season (which is when he will be born).

Aren't they cute?? =)

Second Trimester: Weeks 19 and 20

21 weeks! *gasp* I'm in the second half of my pregnancy, which means there is a lot I have to get done in the next 16 - 19 weeks (I like to be organized and would definitely like to be ready just in case baby boy comes before his due date). In these two weeks, baby went from the size of a mango to the size of a banana. But the funny thing is that at my 20 week anatomy scan, I was told that my son was measuring ahead of schedule in length and weight... they somehow determined that he is already 15oz (when my app said baby would only be 10.2oz), which is just 1oz short of a pound!

tightness in tummy area (front and sides)... there were days when I literally felt like there was absolutely no more room for baby to grow but obviously that's not the case

frequent urination... he still loves to be on my bladder and given what I found out about his size at my appointment, this totally makes sense!

sleepy... I went back to work at week 19 (summer vacation was officially over); it was the toughest week in terms of always being exhausted and the students didn't even come back until I started week 20! naps were my best friend during these weeks.

lower backaches... again, I can now attribute this to his size

heartburn/indigestion/acid reflux... they say that this symptom means that baby boy will have a lot of hair and as bad as it has been, I'm feeling like he will come out with hair down to his bottom! lol

itchy tummy

fetal movement... I've been getting frequent movement from him daily (especially when I drink juice lol) and they are typically little pokes and what feels like him rolling around. but yesterday, his movements were so big that it actually freaked me out. I had never seen my tummy move like that! but I guess I'd better get used to it- he's only gonna get bigger and stronger from this point on.

I'm definitely feeling like I got the short end of the stick in terms of having more energy during the second trimester but every pregnancy is different. My son is doing well in there so I will continue to lack energy for his sake if I have to. 128 more days to go... =)

Second Trimester: Weeks 17 and 18

Sheesh... this has been a very busy week. It was my first week back to work and it literally exhausted me, so please pardon the tardiness of this post. I can't believe I'm almost halfway through my pregnancy! At this point, I have outgrown most of my clothes (bras included- yay!!!!) with the exception of tank tops, maxi skirts and a few dresses. So next month will be all about finding cute maternity pieces. Baby boy has been moving around quite often, from body rolls to pokes to balling up in a knot and often laying on things that make mommy uncomfortable. Today makes 19 weeks & 4 days but here are my symptoms from weeks 17 and 18...

* indigestion... this was the absolute WORST and hit hard during week 18

* frequent urination... this little boy loves to lay low and would constantly be on my bladder

* emotional... these doggone hormones, I swear! I found myself crying over situations that normally wouldn't bother me. Sheesh!

* stuffy nose

* swollen feet... this only happened once (so far) but I noticed it after being on my feet for about 10 min. I was totally channeling Fred Flintstone (not cute)!

* sore boobs... yes, this is still a symptom but I assume it's because I am still growing (again, yay!!!! lol). It's not major pain like during the first trimester but they are definitely still sore to lay on or when people hug me (ouch).

Please be patient with me as I transition back to work... I have literally been worn out every evening when I get home. But I will get back on schedule ASAP. =)

Baby Buys: July

This is a bit of a late post but I wanted to share it with you anyway.

I couldn't resist doing a little bit of shopping for the baby... I bought one gender neutral colored item before finding out the gender but once it was confirmed that I was indeed having a boy (as if my mommy instincts hadn't already told me), I purchased a few more really adorable clothes for my son.

Target ($9.99)

Babies R Us ($14.40)

Babies R Us ($8.99)

Babies R Us ($19.99)

OMGosh I am totally gushing all over again as I post these outfits! Since he will be born in the winter, I wanted to make sure to get some warm outfits for him. But the blue one with the teddy bear hat is for spring (too cute to leave in the store!) The bottom outfit was full price (size 3 months, so he can get a few wears out of it) but first 2 outfits (not the onesies) were either on sale or on clearance. I'm so ready to shop for him some more! But I'm going to [try] to be disciplined and wait. I do know that whenever I do go shopping again, I'm going to buy clearance and sale only! It feels good to save a little money but still make sure my son will look cute.

Second Trimester: Weeks 15 and 16

I'm now at 17 weeks! The last couple of weeks have been pretty mild in terms of symptoms. But there are some symptoms I thought would be gone this trimester that I just can't seem to be done with lol. But as long as baby is healthy, I'll deal! Here's what I experienced during the past 2 weeks:

* bleeding gums... a normal occurrence during pregnancy, so I just keep up with my flossing and brushing regimen

* mildly sore boobs... during week 16, I started having some very sharp pains (almost like needles) and I read that weeks 16-22 is when you start gearing up to produce colostrum

* nausea (only when I didn't eat soon enough)

* "morning" sickness... which actually happened just one afternoon 60 seconds after eating lunch

* heartburn/indigestion

* itchy tummy

* fatigue

* round ligament pain... I almost DREAD sneezing because of these pains!

* gender reveal... we were able to find out at my 16 week appointment what the sex of the baby is!

* frequent urination... baby is quite low and I think is laying on my bladder, which is better than the diagonal position baby was in during the ultrasound at 16 weeks

* fetal movement... now I'm certain about the flutters I feel being baby; it tends to happen when I have the iPad or laptop laying on my belly

So the list was long but weeks 15 and 16 weren't so bad. I'm curious to see what the next 2 weeks will bring... =)

Gender Reveal...

Well, I can now finalize the baby registry! I have been looking at things since the day I found out I was pregnant but now I can make the items more gender specific!!

This past Monday, I had my 16 week appointment. Unfortunately I wasn't scheduled to have a sonogram but just before I left the office, my midwife requested one. The sonogram tech was kind enough to check for parts (she wasn't supposed to until my 20 week appointment). At first, the umbilical cord was in between baby's legs so she wasn't sure... but then she was able to get a clear view and we found out...

We are over the moon to know that we are having a son! The name was chosen very early on in the pregnancy and we didn't even look for a girl's name. I just KNEW I was carrying a boy... call it mother's intuition. =)

Boy or Girl?

Now that I am in my second trimester (16 weeks, to be exact) I thought that it would but fun to share what my baby's gender would be according to some old wives tales! I did these tests over the course of several weeks, so let's check out the results!

1. Chinese Gender Chart - This chart takes the mother's age at conception paired with the month of conception. According to the chart, I'm having a girl.

2. The Mayan Method - For this, you take the mother's age at conception and the year the baby was conceived. If both numbers are even/odd, it's a girl. If one number is even and the other is odd, it's a boy. According to this, I'm having a girl.

3. Sleep Position - If you prefer to sleep on your right side, you're having a girl. If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you're having a boy. According to this, I'm having a boy.

4. Food Cravings - Craving salty things means you're having a boy. Sweet things? A girl is on the way. I've been wanting pizza and sandwiches. According to this, I'm having a boy.

5. Pendulum - For this test, you are supposed to take a necklace with a charm on it and hold it over your palm. If it swings in a circle, it's a girl. If it swings back and forth, it's a boy. According to this, I'm having a... well, this test was inconclusive- the charm swung back and forth and also went in a circle. But trust me, there is only one baby in my tummy!

6. Baking Soda Test - Ok... this description might be a little TMI but I have to explain the test. You put about a teaspoon of baking soda in a disposable cup and add your first morning urine to it. If the mixture fizzes and foams (like a beer), then it's a boy. Little to no reaction means girl. According to this, I'm having a boy.

7. Morning Sickness- Nausea and vomiting? Girl. No morning sickness? Boy. I was quite nauseous starting around 7 weeks so according to this, I'm having a girl.

8. Grace vs. Clumsiness - This claims that if a woman has been graceful during her pregnancy, she is having a girl. But if she has been bumping into and tripping over things, she is having a boy. Hmmm, let's see... I drop things and trip over absolutely nothing. According to this, I'm having a boy.

9. Toddler Interest - It is believed that whatever the gender is of the toddler who has taken a liking to you, you will have the opposite. Early on (in my 7th and 8th weeks of pregnancy), I had 2 toddler boys want nothing to do with me holding them. And then there was a toddler girl who looked at my belly, looked at me and smiled. So I guess that means I'm having a boy.

Let's tally these, shall we?
Boy: 5
Girl: 3
... and 1 inconclusive...

Thanks to my most recent sonogram, I know what I'm having! But you'll have to wait just a few more days to find out... see you on Friday!! =)

Second Trimester: Weeks 13 and 14

So... I know that I mentioned posting my weekly symptoms but as you can see by the title (and photo above), I am already behind! Where did the time go?? Anyway, I just decided that for this post, I would combine the symptoms of weeks 13 and 14.

The start of my Second Trimester was not as kind as I thought it would be! But eventually I learned how to manage most of my symptoms. I am currently 15 weeks along so below are my symptoms from the last 2 weeks...

* sore boobs

* sleepiness

* dry skin (specifically in one place above the waist... that's all I will say lol)

* headaches (just week 13)

* nausea (typically when I didn't eat fast enough for baby lol)

* swollen gums

* indigestion (started during week 14)

* itchy tummy

* dizziness (week 14)

* quickening
(during my last doctor's appointment just before 12 weeks, I found out that I have an anterior placenta- that means that the placenta is attached to the front of my abdomen and therefore creates like a cushion between baby and myself... they said I probably wouldn't feel movement until much later on in my pregnancy but I know I felt a couple of flutters during week 14)

Thankfully, my list of symptoms is not as intense as it was during my first trimester. Hopefully that means this truly will be the easier trimester. My next symptoms post will be for weeks 15 and 16; it seems to be better to just combine the weeks since there doesn't seem to be too much happening.

See you on the next post!

1st Trimester Symptoms

Goodbye, first trimester... and hello, second trimester!

As someone who is expecting for the first time, I thought it would be interesting to keep track of my symptoms. Some of these symptoms might be a little TMI but I wanted to share as much as possible for someone else who may be going through the same things during their first trimester. All pregnancies are different but sometimes we experience similar symptoms. So here are my symptoms from my first trimester:

Week 3
sciatica... leg cramps... fatigue... headaches... thirsty (ALL the time)... scratchy throat...
shortness of breath... dizziness... implantation bleeding/light spotting... gassy
* these were all symptoms I had before I even knew I was pregnant!

Week 4
fatigue... sore nipples... bloated... gassy... nausea... sore boobs... food cravings (pizza)

Week 5
sore boobs... frequent urination... shortness of breath... pelvic pain... gassy... nausea... sciatica
* I had my first doctor's appointment during this week (at 5 wks, 4 days) and I saw the heartbeat!

Week 6
sore boobs... food cravings (pizza)... frequent urination... yeast infection... nausea... cervical twinges

Week 7
sore boobs... severe nausea... cold symptoms (stuffy nose, coughing, sore throat)... diarrhea

Week 8
sore boobs... severe nausea... fatigue... diarrhea
* I had my second doctor's appointment (at exactly 8 weeks) where I had a sonogram, pap & blood work. Baby's heartbeat was between 194-196 according to the sound waves the sonogram tech was reading!

Week 9
sore boobs... nausea... fatigue... diarrhea... frequent urination

Week 10
sore boobs... fatigue... metallic taste in mouth (just one day)... emotional (just one day)

Week 11
sore boobs... calf cramps (only the left leg)... food aversion (watermelon- even the idea of it)... headaches... frequent urination... indigestion... headaches... shortness of breath
* I had my third doctor's appointment this week (at 11 weeks, 2 days), where I had another sonogram & got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time!

Week 12
sore boobs... calf cramps (still left leg only)... gassy... mild backache... pelvic pain... itchy boobs... cervical twinges... shortness of breath

For the rest of my pregnancy I decided I would share weekly updates, but each week of symptoms will come the following week. For example, the symptoms I experience this week (which is week 13 for me) will be posted next week. Make sure you are following my Facebook page!

June 2015 Mommy-to-Be Favorites

June means it's almost the end of my first trimester (yay!) and it means it's also time to share my first favorites post as a mommy-to-be! These favorites will definitely be different from the monthly favorites on my other blog, as this blog is all from a first time mommy-to-be's point of view. Ready?

photo courtesy of naturemade.com

NatureMade Prenatal Vitamins +DHA... so obviously being pregnant for the first time, I know nothing about prenatal vitamins but I seem to have made the right choice with this one. it hasn't made me sick once (except for the time I took it just BEFORE I ate breakfast- BIG no no)

photo courtesy of therepublicoftea.com

The Republic of Tea 'get maternal'... I was actually drinking this tea way before I even conceived. I used it to regulate my cycle after getting off of birth control and also to deal with cramps. Since I found out I was expecting, I've been drinking a cup everyday.

photo courtesy of dominos.com

Domino's Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich... this has been my craving so far. I order at least 2 every weekend lol. I modify it because it has feta cheese on it and that is on the list of foods pregnant women should avoid- it's a good thing I don't even like feta!

photo courtesy of lance.com

Lance Cream Cheese & Chives Crackers... there were times when my food aversions took over but I needed to eat because I was super hungry. These were my go-to snack, especially when those late night hungries (yes, I said hungries lol) took over.

photo courtesy of google.com

Pineapple... no description necessary! It was my sweet treat of choice (and still is) during these past couple of months.

photo courtesy of gianteagle.com

Canada Dry Ginger Ale... yes, I am very particular about my ginger ale and this is the ONLY brand I drink! It has been a life saver on many a day (morning, noon & night)- enough said.

I honestly think I might enjoy writing these kinds of favorites more! I can't wait to share next month's favorites with you.

Coming January 2016...

Welcome to my second blog! Honey Brown Baby is an extension of my main blog, Honey Brown Beauty. I decided to start this new one because...

I'M GOING TO BE A MOMMY!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm excited? lol

I found out on April 30th, 3 days after my 34th birthday- talk about a wonderful gift! What could be more beautiful than finding out that you're going to be a mommy?! So I am obviously super excited!! I typed this when I first found out that I was expecting (I was a little over 3 weeks along) but I am currently 12 weeks pregnant.

I know that everything you read tells you that you absolutely cannot know you're pregnant until you've missed your period, taken a hpt and had it confirmed by a doctor but I knew very early on and started doing research that convinced me even more that I was right.

I felt very nauseous April 17th- 13 days before my period was due, which was strange for me... I never dealt with nausea during any point of my normal cycle. I also had a dream that same morning that I was riding with my dad (who is in heaven) on this strange cliff by the beach... he was having some difficulty handling the curves on this cliff and I thought we were going to end up driving off the cliff. Why am I mentioning this dream? Well, I came across a site that said pregnant women have strange dreams, often about driving and water! Coincidence? I think not. And the fact that my dad was the one driving may have been his way of letting me know that I was expecting and wanting to be part of this special time in my life.

I am now in the last week of my first trimester, so there will be lots of posts coming. I hope that you will follow me on this journey to becoming a first time mommy!
